This position provides IT service desk operations support for several facilities centered around Lackland AFB. Primary responsibilities all center around asset management, documentation, and assisting end users resolve IT issues via the helpdesk and trouble ticketing systems.

Duties/Responsibilities: This position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Assist Personal Computer (PC) Support and Audio Visual (AV) Center Support technicians as required.
  • Operate the Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) computer consoles, following prescribed scheduled work sheet instructions. Respond to basic console message error halts and report unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel. Isolates causes of machine stops or malfunctions and initiates corrective action to fix and prevent future problems.
  • Performs Start Up, Power Off, Shut Downs and Power Failure Recovery and maintenance procedures when required.
  • Promptly and accurately report all maintenance calls. Notify vendors of software and hardware problems, and work with vendors to correct system faults, including on SIPRnet.
  • Configure, integrate, distribute and troubleshoot support for various types of PC based microcomputers, network printers associated software applications, Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products/software, and newly written utilities/application software.
  • Monitor and respond to hardware, software, and network problems utilizing hardware and software testing tools and techniques. Assist with installation of terminals and associated hardware.
  • Provide user training for hardware/software products; identifies problems and resolves hardware/software/network malfunctions; perform minor hardware/software/network maintenance such as board replacement, cable switching, communication assistance, hardware (printers) installation/replacement; interface with mainframe, LANs, Networks, and provide analysis support for such requirements.
  • Perform Start Up, Power Off, Shutdowns and Power Failure Recovery procedures when required.
  • Promptly and accurately report all maintenance calls. Notify vendors of software and hardware problems, and work with vendors to correct system faults.
  • Provide a quarterly ITAM report containing, at a minimum, the following: list of accounts, primary and alternate account holders, date of last inventory, list of any incoming or outgoing account holders, last training date, list of any reports of survey, and explanations of any problem areas or any recommendations concerning the Major Command Equipment Control Officer (MECO) or ECO duties IAW CDRL A008.
  • Route all IT refresh requests and requirements through the COR/NCOIC, IM/IT Support Branch for approval.
  • Provide an annual plan in coordination with yearly refresh detailing strategy for rollout of new desktops, laptops, tablets, monitors, and digital printing and imaging devices.
  • Maintain a current listing of all devices signed out to remote users including name, section, device type, serial number, and ITEC account the device is assigned to IAW CDRL A009.

  • At start date must possess CompTIA Security+ certification in ACTIVE status.
  • Minimum five years of experience in computer system/network management to include two years of specialized experience related to Network/Task Management.
  • Minimum five years of experience working with military IA policies and procedures.
  • Minimum one year knowledge of computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and smart phones.
  • Local travel is required, must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience working in a federal government contracting environment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, self-direct and execute at velocity.
  • Solid communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently (both verbally and in written form) to senior officials and others.
  • Due to a customer requirement, as a condition of employment for this position, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to commencing employment.
