The system administrator is responsible for supporting aspects of network comply to connect and server related administration of the Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC) IT environment. JWAC provides combatant commands, the Joint Staff, and other customers with effects-based analysis and precision targeting options for selected networks and nodes, in order to carry out the national security and military strategies of the United States during peace, crisis, and war.
Job Duties: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Install, configure, monitor, and maintain the technologies that enforce rules to ensure that all devices connected to the network are appropriately configured and patched, disabling, or refusing connectivity for those systems that are not authorized and/or compliant.
- Ensure technologies are configured correctly to meet all applicable Cyber Security directives/mandates (such as Comply to Connect (C2C)) and to include relevant STIGs and controls.
- Assist with investigating and responding to incidents/failures/anomalies that arise.
- Administer, and upgrade computer systems (Windows and Linux), devices, and software to include configuration, provisioning for use, integration with storage and networking, and optimization, patching, software installation, updating, backup, restoration, and electronic and manual data transfer.
- Deploy software which includes scheduling, executing, and troubleshooting the deployment of software applications.
- Deploy security patches which includes scheduling, executing, and troubleshooting the deployment of security patches.
- Maintain computer systems in a fully operational state through monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and performing repair and restoration activities to a compliant operational state.
- Perform periodic reporting of system status to include uptime, incidents, problems, and open issues, etc.
- Provide input to and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide documentation of service workflows, system configurations, and routine tasks.

- At start date must possess a CompTIA Security+ certification in ACTIVE status.
- Experience installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining comply to connect technologies.
- Minimum 4 years of experience supporting Windows and/or Linux servers and desktop operating systems to include a minimum of 3 years supporting Linux and Windows server platforms.
- Must have a strong foundation in network administration to include switches, routers, firewalls.
- Experience with active directory.
- Experience with DNS management.
- Experience managing virtual machines and VMware 6+.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to stay focused.
- Be able to obtain network, server, and workstation administration rights on JWAC networks.
- Pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
- All applicants must have current DoD TS clearance with SCI eligibility day one and prior to entry on duty.
Desired Qualifications and Skills: It is desirable that the candidate has the following qualifications:
- Experience in system administration tools such as WSUS, Puppet, Python, Docker, Git/MS team foundation server (TFS).
- Experience with the following:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Forescout Suite of network security tools
- Cisco Identify Services Engine (ISE)
- Cisco Switches
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- VOIP phones
- Solarwinds
- Former Air Force experience as military, government, or contractor.
