We are seeking a dynamic and experienced senior AWS Workspace administrator to join our dedicated team supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. This role will play a pivotal role in managing the cloud developer experience, enhancing system reliability and maintainability.
Work Location: Remote based upon the needs and direction of the customer.
Basic Required Qualifications and Skills: Note: These are mandatory items that all candidates must have when submitting an application to IMC for this position. - A bachelor’s degree in a relevant business or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work or military experience.
- At start date, must possess one or more of the following certifications in active status:
- CompTIA SecurityX (CompTIA Security Expert)
- CASP+ CE (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner)
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or Associate
- CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- Minimum 5 years of experience administering complex Java-based applications within AWS Workspaces.
- Comprehensive understanding of standard tools, including IDEs such as VS Code (VSC), Eclipse, or CodeReady; text editors like vi, nano, or VSC; Maven/Maven wrapper builds; and Source Control Management (SCM) tools like Git.
- Proficiency in full-stack development, involving front-end, back-end, infrastructure, and data-driven systems.
- Experience with Agile-enhancing tools such as Jira, Confluence, and others.
- Proven experience in building software or solutions using:
- Programming Languages: HTML, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Python
- Relational Databases: PostgreSQL
- Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams
- Frameworks: Spring, Spring Boot
- Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Amazon Linux
- Cloud Computing: Experience with Docker, Container Registry, and Kubernetes
- Source Code Management: Git
- Adept at immersing in new contexts and gaining expertise in new tools, with a self-motivated attitude and the ability to inspire others while maintaining focus.
- Extensive knowledge of various design patterns, including creational, structural, and behavioral patterns.
- Capable of addressing and resolving complex application issues effectively, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, complemented by collaboration, facilitation, and leadership abilities.
- Pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
- All applicants must have a current DoD successfully adjudicated T3 investigation. Most commonly attained with a SECRET clearance. (Note: a SECRET clearance is not required, but the T3 investigation is necessary to meet IT-II privileged access designation.)
Desired Qualifications and Skills: It is desirable that the candidate have the following qualifications:
- Certifications:
- Certified AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional
- Certified AWS SysOps Administrator - Associate
- Certified AWS Solutions Architect - Associate
- Proficient in Oracle RDBMS version 19c developer functionality, with the ability to establish connections and perform API calls (not at DBA or database designer level).
- Familiarity with Oracle SQL, GitLab, and Bitbucket.
- Experience with Struts framework, Windows OS, Administering Windows Azure Virtual Desktop environments, and Jenkins for build automation and deployment management.
- Skilled in SonarLint and SonarQube for static code analysis, quality assurance, and security checks.
- Extensive experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot, with a focus on microservices architecture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
- Manage virtual desktops provided to users, ensuring optimal access, security, and performance.
- Administer and manage custom AWS Golden Images and bundles used for provisioning local developer workspaces.
- Oversee user account lifecycle management within AWS Workspaces, including addition and removal.
- Configure Amazon CloudWatch monitoring and alerts for AWS Workspaces, handling alert responses and performance tuning effectively.
- Provide support to other teams by optimizing performance and troubleshooting workspace issues.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive backup strategy for AWS Workspaces recovery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend appropriate services based on data and security requirements.
- Adhere to industry best practices, assisting in the development and implementation of plans for government systems adoption.
- Develop and provide technical guidance, advocating cloud tool usage across the development team.
- Assess and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
- Ensure software development aligns with Agile and test-driven development principles, supported by robust documentation, user-centered design, and extensible infrastructure.
- Stay current on technology developments as required.
- Engage in special projects as necessary.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
